 Ad Astra, the Aberta University's biannual scientific journal, invites researchers and students to submit articles for its second issue, dedicated to the central theme of artificial intelligence (AI). In this transdisciplinary context, contributions are sought that explore the impact of AI on a wide variety of sectors, as well as the challenges and opportunities that this emerging technology poses to society.

Submissions are accepted in the following thematic areas:

 AI, Ethics and Human Rights

 We are looking for articles that explore the ethical dilemmas of AI, including issues of privacy, algorithmic bias, accountability, surveillance and opinion manipulation. In addition, the role of AI in promoting or threatening human rights and how this technology can amplify existing inequalities will be considered relevant contributions.

 AI, Economy and Labour

 Contributions are sought to the discussion of the impact of AI on the labour market and the global economic landscape. Articles can address the transformation of labour functions, the creation and loss of jobs, and the new skills required by automation and advanced algorithms.

 AI, Security and Cyber-risk

 Contributions are invited that analyse the challenges and opportunities of AI in the field of digital, physical and institutional security. How can AI be used to prevent cyberattacks, protect critical infrastructure or strengthen public safety? What vulnerabilities emerge with the growing adoption of automated systems? What is the role of AI in the context of cyber warfare, espionage, or manipulation of democratic systems?

 Contributions are invited that explore the role of AI in the environmental and socio-economic domains. We question the contribution of AI to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals; the transformation of business models to promote more sustainable production and consumption patterns, with a focus on knowledge management, innovation and cultural change; its use in favor of sustainable environmental practices and promoting circularity.

 This theme focuses on the philosophical and ontological questions of AI: what does artificial cognition mean? How can humans and artificial intelligences coexist harmoniously? What is the future of artificial general intelligence?

 Submissions must be made via the online platform of the journal *AdAstra*, in accordance with the editorial rules of the publication. Submitted articles will be subject to peer review.
